Beautiful piece. I love the subject of course, but I also love the richness of the colors and the composition. This a story that teases at the mind especially in that last panel.

"Sleeping Beauty" - omg_wtf_yeah, sgareversebang 2012

Wow! Just, wow. Other folks said a lot of the things I wanted to, so I'll just add that I love the photo of Rodney you used here. Ordinarily I think that pic almost makes a parody of David Hewlett, the way it makes him look like the Darkly Brooding Hero of a silent movie; but that's absolutely why it works so well here.

The way you've manipulated the lighting makes Rodney look even more remote, an image on a movie screen. Even John looks a bit 2D in the first frame as he gazes at Rodney, despite the warm tones behind him. But in the last frame John seems so much more present because of his expression & palm pressed to the glass(?), almost as tho' his longing brings him to life. It's an interesting twist, to wonder which of them has been "sleeping"--maybe both?

Plus, so much love for the machinery details in all the backgrounds! Makes my geeky little heart so happy. ;-)

Anyway, brilliant job! Thanks very much for creating & sharing this with us!

Wow, thank you (both for the compliments and the in depth comment). I'm really happy that you liked it and gave it thought. I'm really happy you got a sense of longing from it because it's exactly what I wanted. And thanks so much for noticing the lighting. I spent a lot of time on it and I'm glad you enjoyed that aspect of it.
